Your TV is off (or playing YouTube). Either way, it's costing you money

A restaurant TV stuck on the YouTube screen asking to add a Google account, in front of the customers.

We went out walking around the city paying attention to just one thing: the screens in shops and businesses. Bar, diner, market, convenience store, bakery. Almost every place has a TV hanging in a prime spot — the wall every customer faces. And in the overwhelming majority, that screen was doing one of two things: nothing or working for free for someone else.

In both cases, it's money walking out the door.

The switched-off TV: the store's most expensive spot, mute

This is the most common one. The TV is there, hanging, expensive, well-positioned — and black. Off.

Notice where these screens are: above the cake counter, next to the juices, on the column everyone faces while they wait. It's the best billboard your business has — and it's dark. Every customer who passes by is an ad for the daily dish, the combo, the promo, that didn't happen.

The TV on the wrong channel: you advertise for others

The second scene is even more ironic: the screen is on, looking great, drawing attention — but playing content that isn't yours and sells nothing of yours.

This bar even understood that the screen is worth money — so much so that it set up a cardboard totem next to it, with "ADVERTISE HERE" and a WhatsApp QR. Except the big screen, the one that's actually huge and right in the middle of the wall, is playing the news. All the attention goes to the broadcaster's content, and the monetization became a cardboard workaround off in the corner.

Music on YouTube, a random video, a soap opera. All great for setting the mood — and Marca na Tela doesn't take that off the air, quite the opposite. The problem is when it's only that. The screen entertains the customer and doesn't say a word about your draft, your platter, your combo. You pay for the electricity, the internet and the spot on the wall to promote the artist and the streaming platform.

And the worst of all: the login screen

This one we saw in a packed restaurant, right at dinnertime:

The big screen, in the middle of the dining room, stuck on the "Add your Google Account" screen. A QR code and an activation code, frozen, in front of everyone eating. It's not entertainment, it's not an ad, it's nothing — it's a setup screen exposed to the whole room. Embarrassing, and very expensive, considering the spot it occupies.

What that same screen could be doing

None of those places needed to swap the TV, buy expensive equipment or call a technician. The screen is already there, plugged into the right wall. What's missing is for it to work.

Marca na Tela takes any of those screens and makes it:

  • Entertain the customer with the content you already like to play (including YouTube) — the wait stays light.
  • Sell in between, showing your deals, the daily dish, the combo, without covering the content.
  • Announce what matters on the footer bar: hours, event, the week's promo.

It makes a measurable difference: digital screens at the point of sale raise the chance of buying the displayed products by 8.1%, according to a Journal of Marketing study with 30 million shoppers. The attention that today goes to the random video starts working for your cash flow.

Turn it around in 3 steps, from your phone

There's no construction, no complicated installation. It works on any TV with a browser — a Smart TV, a Fire TV Stick, or a mini PC connected to the big screen:

  1. Upload your ad from your phone — a photo of the dish or the product does the job.
  2. Open your TV's browser at play.marcanatela.com.br.
  3. Scan the QR that appears on the screen with your phone (or type in the code). Live.

After that it's all from your phone, at the counter: changed the price, booked an event, ran out of the deal — you update it and the screen changes instantly.

The wall is yours. The screen should be too

If your TV is off, it's a dark billboard in the best spot in the store. If it's playing YouTube or the news, it's a billboard working for others. In both cases, you can do better — and without swapping a thing.
